What Is Raw Honey?
When raw honey first comes out of the comb it is a natural, untreated liquid. Like raw fruits and vegetables, the enzymes and vitamins found in honey can be broken down by heating and processing. Our honey is unheated and unfiltered to provide the most health benefits for our customers.
Color, Texture & Fragrance
Coming straight from the bees, this honey is the concentrated nectar of flowers. Its color, flavor and fragrance can vary slightly depending on the flowers the nectar is gathered from. The color can range from almost white to golden brown and often looks a bit milkier than the processed supermarket honey due to its finer crystal structure. Raw honey typically crystallizes within a couple months to become thicker, more like a butter that many people like to spread on waffles, pancakes, toast or add to hot beverages.
So What Is In It?
Our natural, local honey is not filtered so contains what honey has in nature: vitamins, enzymes, minerals, amino acids and trace amounts of pollen, bee’s wax and propolis (tree resin). All of these things help promote clean, healthy bees as well as humans. As an alkaline-forming food, raw honey can help to settle acid indigestion. It also contains amylase which is an enzyme that helps to predigest starchy foods like breads and is found in flower pollen.
